Aid transport for the hospital in Lviv
This aid transport, financed by donations from ROTHENBERGER employees, was organised together with EurAsia Heart and a large logistics company. Vital medical equipment, bedding and toys were transported to a hospital in the city of Lviv in Ukraine, 70 kilometres from Chernobyl, to improve the lives of the young patients.
Around 500 patients are treated in the cardiac surgery department of this facility every year. At the same time, the conditions are intolerable: Of the 40 operating theatres available, only one is still functional. Tragically, children and adolescents with heart conditions are currently not being operated on with a heart-lung machine due to a lack of adequate equipment. Often the simplest means or the power grid, which repeatedly breaks down, fail.
The aim of TOOLS FOR LIFE and EurAsiaHeart's commitment is to set up a functioning cardiac surgery centre for children and young people and to train a local team to look after the medical and technical areas.
