Sustainable electricity for a children’s village and school - Croix-des-Bouquets
Helping to connect–the TOOLS FOR LIFE Foundation is re-establishing the electricity supply to the children’s village and school complex in Haiti. The solar batteries are defective in the Don-Bosco children’s village with attached school in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti, thus the electricity supply is crippled. The photo-voltaic array cannot be operated without the minimum voltage from battery storage being present. The TOOLS FOR LIFE Foundation is supporting the procurement of new solar batteries with 10,000 €. A diesel generator is currently supplying only emergency electricity to the children’s village and the school. The project is being carried out by our project partner Don Bosco Mondo e.V. around 150 girls between 6 and 18 years old live in the children’s village. They are orphans or from socially deprived families. About 510 students are educated in the attached school. The school was built in the process of the rebuilding assistance following the earthquake that devastated Haiti in January 2010.
