At RICO
As part of this year's Rothenberger Help Day, dedicated employees launched a special project in collaboration with the LBV (Landesbund für Vogel- und Naturschutz, Kreisgruppe Kempten-Oberallgäu): A new lizard biotope was created in the Hortus Natura garden in Kempten, providing a protected habitat for many native lizards.
The project started with the preparation of the site. Firstly, the turf was cut out and a stable foundation was created using fleece and rolled gravel. The volunteers then built a dry stone wall, which is not only an aesthetic highlight, but also offers the lizards protection and climbing opportunities. Finally, the area was covered with sand and designed with driftwood and old wood as shelters so that the animals can feel at home in their new habitat.
With the lizard biotope, those involved hope to make a small but valuable contribution to promoting local biodiversity. The measure shows the many ways in which Rothenberger Help Day involves employees in social and ecological projects and at the same time sensitises them to sustainability.
