At Profiroll
In May 2024, the trainees at Profiroll Technologies GmbH once again demonstrated the importance of social commitment as part of the Rothenberger Help Day. This year's campaign supported two outstanding organisations: Brotkorb e.V. in Bad Düben and Diakonie Bad Düben. Both organisations carry out valuable work in the region and offer trainees the opportunity to strengthen their social skills and play an active role in the community.
Brotkorb e.V. Bad Düben - Helping locally
Brotkorb e.V. in Bad Düben is a non-profit organisation that distributes food and non-food items to people in need in a similar way to the German food banks. Every Wednesday, people in need receive a free meal and support in the form of donated food. The Profiroll trainees sent a clear signal of solidarity here.
In May 2024, the second-year trainees were regularly involved in the food distribution. Two to three trainees per week actively supported the preparation and distribution of the food parcels. But the work didn't just start when the doors opened: the trainees also travelled to the supermarkets to collect the food donations, unloaded the donations, cleaned the shelves and sorted the goods.
What did the trainees appreciate most? ‘We strengthened our social responsibility and reflected on how important it is to treat people in difficult life situations with respect. This experience had a positive impact on team cohesion and our own way of life,’ report the trainees.
Diakonie Bad Düben - support for the elderly
Since 2019, Profiroll has been working closely with Diakonie Bad Düben, a facility that specialises in caring for the elderly. This partnership was temporarily suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but was finally resumed in 2024. In calendar weeks 21 to 24, a total of ten trainees from Profiroll GmbH supported the geriatric nursing staff at Diakonie. Each week, two trainees helped with the care and treatment of the elderly.
The trainees' tasks included a wide range of activities: They played with the senior citizens, served food and drinks and accompanied the residents on walks in the park. The trainees not only gained an insight into the work of a care home, but were also able to experience for themselves how important it is to treat older people with respect.
‘Working in care for the elderly has strengthened our willingness to help and shown us how important it is to treat older people with respect and dignity,’ summarised the trainees.
Conclusion: A win-win situation for everyone involved
Rothenberger Help-Day 2024 was a valuable experience for the trainees at Profiroll Technologies GmbH. Not only were they able to develop their social skills, they were also able to have a positive impact on their fellow human beings. The commitment to Brotkorb e.V. and Diakonie Bad Düben showed how important it is to take responsibility in society and to stand up for those who need support.
Such activities not only promote social responsibility, but also deepen understanding and empathy for various social challenges. With their commitment in 2024, the Profiroll trainees have shown that real help on the ground is an indispensable part of a strong community.
